MLB trade speculation has been revolving around Alex Bregman for an extended period. The ex-Astros star has not yet secured a team, which is surprising considering that a player of Bregman’s caliber remains a free agent. The same is true for Pete Alonso. Perhaps both athletes are requesting too much, or the teams are simply playing the waiting game.
Bregman had more than five organizations prepared to chase after him. It began with the Yankees, Blue Jays, Mets, and others. Following all the excitement, it was reduced to the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox. Many anticipate that the Red Sox will be his ultimate destination.
As time goes on and the Red Sox maintain their silence, Bregman’s rumors have taken yet another thrilling twist. The Houston Astros may not be finished with Bregman, as whispers of a reunion are intensifying. According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, the Astros have not completely shut the door on Bregman.
“The Houston Astros are keeping the door ajar for free-agent third baseman Alex Bregman to return, but are not optimistic. Bregman has serious offers from at least 2 teams. If the Astros pulled it off, Bregman could stay at 3B, Isaac Paredes move to 2B and Jose Altuve move to LF,” Nightengale stated.

Alex Bregman Could Pivot To The Astros If The Red Sox Drop Out
The Astros have been transparent in their pursuit of Bregman. Dana Brown expressed a desire for the slugger to stay in the Space City. Likewise, they extended an offer to Bregman, which he declined in search of better opportunities. Houston was unable to satisfy his demands. A short-term agreement may be a more suitable option for the time being.
If Bregman does not receive a proposal from the Red Sox or any other team, he might accept what the Astros are prepared to present him. The positional shifts of Paredes and Altuve remain to be seen. Alex Bregman would prefer not to enter spring training as a free agent.
After all, he has been an essential component in the franchise’s history, having won two World Series championships. The Astros’ fanbase adores him, and a reunion would only bring them joy. The Astros offered Bregman $156 million, which still stands. Slightly increasing the offer could ensure Bregman’s return without hesitation. MLB trade rumors continue to circulate around free agents like Anthony Rizzo.
