During his visit to a racetrack in Arcadia, California, pitcher Walker Buehler of the Los Angeles Dodgers had his $100,000 timepiece taken in a robbery described as a “snatch and grab” incident that occurred on September 27.
As per ABC7, the watch was reportedly removed from his wrist amidst a crowd surrounding the MLB player and his partner at Santa Anita Park.
Buehler’s legal team stated, “The matter has been reported to the authorities and is presently being looked into. We are relieved that both Walker and McKenzie were unharmed and Walker is concentrating on the ongoing playoffs.”
It’s worth mentioning that this was just one of several thefts that took place on that same day at the racetrack, with three separate incidents reported to the police, according to TMZ.
It’s interesting to note that Buehler hails from Lexington, Kentucky, where he was exposed to horse racing from an early age, and he even has a stake in a horse named Authentic, which triumphed in the 2020 Kentucky Derby.
Overall, Buehler aims to enhance his pitching performance in the regular season, having achieved a 1-6 record, alongside a 5.38 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in his seventh season as a pitcher.
With the NLDS series deadlocked at 1-1, Buehler is slated to commence Game 3 as the Dodgers face off against the Padres in San Diego on Tuesday, October 8.
