There has been a buzz on social media criticizing Washington Nationals’ first baseman Joey Gallo for his lack of charisma both on and off the field.
In an episode of the Beyond The Spotlight Podcast, a woman decided to reveal the MLB player’s attempt to initiate conversation with her on Instagram.
The exchange seemed innocent at first, but she still felt the need to expose it.
“Are you familiar with Joey Gallo?” she inquired.
“Did he contact you on your direct messages?”
“Yes, that’s correct,” she answered with a giggle.
“What was his opening remark?” one of the hosts queried.
She responded, “He simply messaged ‘Hello!’ with a blushing face emoji.”
The woman went on to recount that Joey Gallo mentioned, “I’m not great at checking this app regularly, but feel free to message me if you’d like.”
“Then he shared his contact number with me.”
Later, she asked about his age and learned that he was 30 years old.
The woman, who was the target of Joey Gallo’s interaction, seems to be Instagram influencer Trinity Covington.
With nearly 33,000 followers on Instagram and over 459,000 on TikTok, it’s understandable why Gallo aimed to get in touch with her.
Joey Gallo Couldn’t Impress the Instagram Model as Much as He Fails on the Field
Joey Gallo, an immense power hitter, experiences significant highs and drastic lows.
The ex-Twins left fielder, now repping the Nationals, smashed 21 homers for the Twins in the 2023 season but concluded with a mere .177 batting average. Also, he struck out 142 times.
In 2024, his performance didn’t see any improvement, with a batting average of .161, marking his fifth consecutive season below the Mendoza Line.
Gallo’s strikeout count stood at 102 times. It could have been higher, but he only featured in 76 games.
