Manny Machado is likely among the numerous Padres stars who are dissatisfied with the team’s progression this offseason. The Padres were not involved in acquiring free agents, aside from their interest in Roki Sasaki. Although they were associated with a few power hitters, the team didn’t make significant moves in terms of signing players.
San Diego is facing ownership difficulties, and their overall strategy is focused on reducing payroll. Sasaki was one individual anticipated to join the roster, but he chose the Dodgers instead. To exacerbate matters, the Padres made no efforts to secure Jurickson Profar.
Padres third baseman Manny Machado expressed his feelings regarding the team’s offseason, mentioning that he’s somewhat let down by their progress.
“Are we disheartened by not making any transactions? Yeah,” Machado said. “As a group, you look up there and feel a bit disappointed that we allowed some of our core members to go elsewhere. Ultimately, we can only control what we can control with the guys we have here, and we are preparing for a lengthy season,” Machado stated via the New York Post.

Manny Machado Shares His Best Wishes To Jurickson Profar
Profar was pivotal for the Padres in 2024. His performance at the plate was instrumental in their postseason success. Padres supporters were discontent that the team allowed Profar to depart for the Atlanta Braves. Replacing Profar for the upcoming season will prove challenging for the team. Machado conveyed his good wishes to Profar as he embarks on his new path with the Braves.
“I’m extremely pleased for Profar. He performed remarkably for our organization this year and supported us immensely,” Machado added.
Machado also indicated that Sasaki knew where he intended to sign prior to the deadline. The Padres need to fill several positions, especially if they aspire to reach the playoffs. Key hitters like Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado will be crucial for the team in the upcoming season.
The Padres are among the few teams experiencing a rather quiet offseason. Conversely, teams like the Yankees are actively searching for a chance to trade Marcus Stroman.
