Regrettably for Los Angeles Dodgers enthusiasts, starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow is considered “highly improbable” to take the mound again this year, after being diagnosed with a strained right elbow, which was confirmed by manager Dave Roberts on Saturday.

Subsequent to this update, Glasnow cleared his locker at Truist Park in Atlanta while the Dodgers were concluding a four-game series with the Braves. Consequently, the pitcher refrained from engaging with the press in recent days. Even the Dodgers’ own team appears to be unaware of his current whereabouts.
Roberts addressed reporters on Sunday, saying “I am unsure of his current location… But he is not accompanying the team.”

Glasnow was initially placed on the Injured List due to elbow tendonitis and was anticipated to make a comeback in mid-September. However, the recent scans revealing a sprain have dashed those hopes, effectively ruling him out for the remainder of 2024.
Notably, Glasnow previously underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 while playing for the Tampa Bay Rays, and following a trade, the 31-year-old signed a five-year/$136.5 million extension with the Dodgers.
In 22 starts this year, Glasnow showcased his potential as a CY Young contender, boasting a 9-6 record with a 3.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and one of the highest strikeout rates in the league (168 strikeouts in 134 innings).
Manager Dave Roberts expressed his thoughts on losing his top pitching ace to injury.
“This is a significant setback, considering his contributions to our team and what we had envisioned him achieving. While there will undoubtedly be consequences, we must move forward as we have plenty of capable individuals. I empathize with Tyler because he made every effort to remain healthy and return, but sometimes circumstances do not align.”
In a season marked by injuries for the Dodgers, there is positive news with the return of starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who tallied eight strikeouts in four scoreless innings against the Cubs last week (6-3 win), following a three-month absence on the IL due to a right shoulder injury.
All things considered, the Dodgers will be entering the postseason without Glasnow. Currently, they sit atop the NL West division with an 88-61 record (3.5 games ahead of the San Diego Padres).
