The remarkable Shohei Ohtani 50/50 home run sphere has been auctioned for a historic sum.
During the Miami Marlins’ match on September 19, Shohei Ohtani made MLB history by hitting his 50th home run of the season. The highly-valued athlete became the first player ever to achieve 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season.
Goldin Auctions recently revealed at an auction that the 50th home run sphere was sold for an incredible $4.392 million, setting a new record for the priciest baseball ever sold, significantly surpassing the previous record.
According to Will Stern from Cllct Media, Mark McGwire’s 70th home run sphere held the previous record for the most expensive baseball ever sold, fetching $3.05 million in 1999, a year after he hit the milestone home run.
In the 20-4 win against Miami on September 19, Ohtani had a remarkable performance with six hits, three home runs, and 10 RBI. The versatile superstar concluded his significant regular season with 54 home runs, 130 RBI, 59 stolen bases, a .310 batting average, and a 1.036 OPS.

Ohtani is all but confirmed to receive the 2024 National League MVP award, just like Aaron Judge in the American League. The first game of the star-studded 2024 World Series will kick off in Los Angeles on Friday night.
Shohei Ohtani & Dodgers Aspire For Dynasty Status
Despite consistent success during the regular season, the Dodgers have a lengthy history of underperforming in the postseason. Under manager Dave Roberts, they have secured three NL pennants, but only one World Series victory (2020).
Ohtani and the Dodgers are on the verge of elevating the historic franchise to dynastic status. A triumph over the Yankees in the World Series would mark their second championship in five seasons, setting the stage for one more title to solidify their status as a 2020s dynasty.
